Following on from last week’s post about the Second Kepler Science Conference, the Keck Observatory Archive (KOA) is a growing resource for exoplanet science. The poster shown at the end of this post was presented at the Kepler Conference describes this. KOA, a collaboration between NExScI and WMKO, has played an important role in the follow-up of Kepler-discovered objects, including exoplanets, variable stars, and binary systems. The figure below shows the public observations in the Kepler field:

The exoplanet content will grow considerably in the next few years. Observations from all the active instruments – seven in all – will be archived by the end of December 2013, and data from all instruments will begin to be made public by the end of 2014. The data archived include all previously acquired data and new observations, with observers having exclusive access to these new data for at least 18 months after the date of observations.
