All the presentations from the Workshop on Maintainable Software Practices, held in Chicago as part of 8th International Conference on e-Science 2012, have been posted on-line at the workshop’s web site. I posted my talk on “Adoption of Software by a User Community: The Montage Image Mosaic Engine Example” in this blog. There are also fascinating talks from other fields, including “Sustainable Software for Computational Chemistry and Materials Modeling” by Crawford et al. and “libHPC: Software sustainability and reuse through metadata preservation,” by Cohen et al.
The most interesting part of the workshop was a discussion on how to change the culture regarding software sustainability, which resulted in three sets of slides on skills, funding and impact, which I embed below:
